MELTING KILN, Mod. TTN
A laboratory melting kiln with a stationary crucible
with a capacity of approx. 600 – 1000 g.
The mixture to be melted is put into the crucible which is located inside the kiln, through a hole of appropriate size in the upper part of the kiln.
At the moment that the mixture is molten, it will start flowing out of the crucible and out of the kiln, first, through a hole of adequate size in the bottom of the crucible and then through a hole of a larger size in the bottom of the kiln, underneath the crucible, which passes through the entire insulation of the kiln.
The structure of the kiln is made of steel, stove enameled at 180°C with epoxy paints.
The thermal insulation consists of panels of ceramic fibre with a high alumina content, suitable for the working temperature of the kiln.
The heating is obtained by means of super kanthal elements, which do not require a protective ambience and which do not present ageing phenomena. In this way one has the advantage of a simple and safe operation of the kiln and a long lifetime of the heating elements with the possibility of exchanging one element only without changing the behaviour of the others.
The temperature and the firing curve are controlled by a microprocessor based controller, model K1PX, with which it is possible to program 4 cycles of 8 steps each.
